How We Met
See videos of our adventures below!
We met in the unlikeliest of places — an accelerated summer statistics course at Macomb Community College. We spent long hours in the library studying over just the six week long class, but it brought us together.
At just 19 and 21 years old, we took a leap and started dating on July 21, 2019. What began as summer homework turned into adventures and laughter.
Then summer ended and long distance began with monthly drives through Ohio. That is how we knew it was true love. Though within our first year together, the world turned upside down — COVID-19 hit, campuses closed, and long-distance became our new normal. Despite campuses being closed and being in the same state, COVID kept us apart. When things finally began to reopen it was time to go back to long distance. We made it work with long drives, FaceTime calls, and texting. It wasn’t easy, but we learned early that what we had was worth the miles.
Over the years, we grew stronger — through distance, lockdowns, and life transitions. And finally, in June 2023, we closed the distance for good and moved in together. Not long after, we expanded our little family by adopting our cat, Gus, who quickly claimed our hearts.
Then, in January 2024, we took another big step — we bought our first home. From a classroom full of strangers to building a life full of love, laughter, and cat hair — our story has been anything but ordinary.
And to think… it all started with stats class.
The rest? Well, it’s still being written.
Our Engagement
We got engaged on May 16, 2025 in Holland Michigan. Mitchell had been planning everything for months. The plan, to ask Rachael the most important question of his life: "Will you marry me?"
That morning, Mitchell felt nervous while Rachael thought they were just going on a random trip to Michigan. When the moment finally came, Mitchell finally popped the question.
